TWISTED POETS LITERARY SALON
In the spirit of Vancouver all poets are welcome. Come out and bring your best, favourite, newest, oldest poems, and share in an evening of literary surprises. 1st Thursday of every month.

This dynamic duo are sure to be a treat when they put their words together to bring you an amazing night of poetry, performance and well you will just have to come out and see for yourself. But it is sure to be fun, moving and exciting as Shannon and Warren Dean entertain, enlighten and surprise us.
Shannon Rayne is an accomplished performance poet and storyteller who has facilitated creative writing workshops for over five years. She is the workshop facilitator at the Fearless Writers Circle in Vancouver’s vibrant Downtown Eastside and has led writing and performance workshops in elementary and high schools in the Greater Vancouver area and in cities across the country when on tour. Shannon has also worked in the field of addiction and mental illness and has taught writing workshops geared toward self-expression for those in recovery and transition. She has performed at the Canadian Festival of Spoken Word, the Vancouver International Storytelling Festival, and Under the Volcano Festival. Her work has been published in broadsides and chapbooks by dirty rat pack press and pooka press and has appeared in other publications and literary journals.
Warren Dean Fulton is a poetic prospector, panning for gold along the banks of language. He runs a micro poetry publishing company, pooka press. This June, he embarked on a tour, pookapalooza – a poetry roadshow celebrating 15 yrs of pooka press, which brought him to 8 different cities in 6 provinces in 15 days ( Kamloops , Calgary , Regina , Winnipeg , Ottawa , Montreal , Thunder Bay , Vancouver ). He has been published in lit mags, now & then, here & there.

Building Poems: Language, Image, Idea
This poetry writing course is designed for writers of all levels. Students will experiment with imagery, language, voice, and rhythm. Through in-class discussions, writing exercises, and workshopping, students will develop their skills in crafting poetry in a supportive, creative environment.

About the instructor:
Jen Currin has taught writing for many years, most recently for the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth (online) and Langara College’s Continuing Studies Program. A former Poetry Editor for Hayden’s Ferry Review and Nightboat Books, Jen has published two books of poems, The Sleep of Four Cities and Hagiography. The Inquisition Yours is forthcoming from Coach House Books in 2010.
