$40 honorarium
As part of the qualifying process to become a psychiatrist, doctors are required to complete an examination of a patient and present the findings to two examiners. This year the examinations are on Friday October 9th, Thursday October 15th and Friday October 16th and they run from 8 am until 4pm.
If you volunteer you will be introduced to the examinee and the two examiners at a specific, previously agreed time and the examinee will complete a standard assessment for 50 minutes (just like your first visit to a psychiatrist or hospital covering your current and previous symptoms, past and current treatment, your physical health, your family history and your work history) with one examiner sitting in the room with you and the other watching through a one-way mirror. There is no physical examination or testing as part of this process. At the end of 50 minutes you are free to leave. A cash honorarium of $40 will be given to you at the end of the examination.
If you are interested in participating in these examinations please call Dr Fleming on 604-822-7846 and leave a message stating your name, your phone number and that you wish to volunteer for the examinations.
