The Timeraiser is part volunteer fair and part silent art auction where, rather than money, you bid a number of hours you are willing to volunteer for an organization(s) of your choice over the next 12 months.
Throughout the evening, meet with representatives from a variety of non-profit agencies that are looking for help, and match your skills to their needs. From Habitat for Humanity, Special Olympics BC and Vancouver Fringe Festival, there are many stimulating ways to get involved in your community.
Go to www.timeraiser.ca to register as we celebrate an evening of community building. Tickets are $20 (unless your boss wants to pay for you!) and are limited, so buy yours soon!

Thundering Word Oct 4th— Ehrin Salazar. Another good Wanda choice. This guy is a true entertainer and also a great contributor to the art scene around town here. He did one spot at the Open Mic and Wanda knew we had to feature him. Oct. 18th– The Boomchix!! Oh yes, these sweethearts are about my all time fave singing duo. They harmonize like angels and Janice Dunbar is a songwriter in the genius cartegory. We’ve featured them before and I always say, “You Poets need to come out and see these girls!” You’ll know what I mean when you hear them…. Nov.1st— This is a MONSTER. Not only are we featuring the one and only cris derksen, the killer Cellist who got a raging standing “O” last year… Oh yeah, you’ll be taken for an incredible Musical ride with this lady!… …..not only that, but it’s also our expanded version of “dead poets”—- It’s “The Open Mic of th’ Living Dead“— It’s a contest, complete with Judges, in which, you, our wonderful Open Mic folks come as any dead celeb you choose and do a piece on the Open Mic in that character. whip up a costuime and a character you can imitate and go for it! NOT just “Poets” either… come as John Wayne, Einstien, Salvador Dali, Johnny Cash, Flip Wilson… anyone you want as long as you do your bit in under 10 minutes in that character. Good Prizes and tons o’ fun. Of course, the Mic will be Open to anyone who wants to do their set as themselves, but ya won’t be judged or win a Prize…. Remember! It’s All Saints day! The day after Halloween. You should all still be in a Halloweenie mood! Nov.15th— The great and wonderful Christie Rose! Be sure to observe the smile on Ali’s face. She’s one of his very favorites. She IS a great singer and a real darlin’. You just gotta love this fine gal. Nov. 29th– OK, Ladies, this one’s for you! Fernando Raguero! Yes, one of the funniest and miost bizarre poets anywhere. A many time member of the Vancouver Slam team. This guy has no peers! He’s in a category all his own. Dec. 6th– Dick Cash… This is another Wanda pick and that girl is never wrong. She’s battin’ 1000 so far, so what can ya say? They are a kinda urban Hillbilly band and well worth checking out. And finally, Dec. 20th— Our Christmas show! These shows are always great. We’re featuring The Burrs again. Why? They were so great last year that we had to have them back. They were perfect for a big show like that… This could become a tradition! There will be gifts for the performers, ( gifts with a theme! ) Prizes and a wonderful ending to another Fine year of Vancouver’s Finest Open Mic. )))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
