Pandora’s Collective News

The changing air makes me realize that fall is here despite the few warm days left. It has been a long while since I have been back east for a true fall and I am missing it. So send me your poems, thoughts, lyrics, rants, pictures of fall and I will send them out in a special e-news dedicated just to the changing colours, wool sweaters and fireplaces. Fall We kick dying leaves to the side of the road, while dividing time into the colours of here, there and maybe when. Silhouettes of trees reach out,
stone cathedrals drawn in evening shade,
church bells sing a north wind breathes vibrant conversation down the long laneway home. Our whispered thoughts touch beneath the warm quilt of your tiny limestone apartment. We listen for the rising moon with half closed eyes. B. Nish What do you remember of fall? PS Thanks to Bill McNamara for pointing out a huge error in my last email. Apologies to all you hosts as you deserve your due (not do). I really have to stop doing this at 3am. PSS Anyone care to join me on the 30th at the ANZA Club for Talon’s Night of Poetry with Fred Wah and Friends? See below for details. Description The success of our summer poetry event has inspired us to host a new poetry event this month:

Fred Wah and Friends
Upstairs at the ANZA Club

The amazing line-up of poets features Fred Wah plus Daphne Marlatt, Colin Browne, Jeff Derksen, Roy Miki, and George Bowering, who will emcee the event.
We would like to congratulate Fred Wah on being shortlisted for the Relit Poetry Award for his title from last year, Sentenced to Light.

We would also like to thank everyone who came out for the wonderful event we held at the ANZA Club on June 10 featuring bill bissett, Adeena Karasick, rob mclennan and Garry Thomas Morse. The poets gave rollicking performances to a very appreciative packed house. After the readings concluded, the crowd used the bartenders’ services and gave themselves over to conversation and libation. Julie Peters broadcast parts of these performances on her CITR show.
