For those who like to hear a positive story about schizophrenia, please come and listen to Dr. Austin Mardon on June 25th at the Douglas College Campus in New Westminster.

Dr. Mardon is an internationally respected geologist, Antarctic explorer and Order of Canada recipient. He would also freely admit that the most difficult thing he has done in his life is learn to manage his schizophrenia.

Lately, he has become a passionate advocate of the disabled, the homeless and people living with a mental illness in Alberta.

He is driven by the desire to improve the lives of others living with schizophrenia and and to de-stigmatise the illness.

The BC Schizophrenia Society is pleased to arrange this exclusive Lower Mainland engagement. Joining Dr. Mardon will be Dr. Debbie Thompson. Dr. Thompson is the Clinical Pharmacy Consultant for Psychiatry with the Fraser Health Authority. Her talk will address the challenges of staying on medication; what helps and what hurts!
