COME TO AN EXCITING EXHIBITION OF ORIGINAL PAINTINGS INSPIRED BY THE WORKS OF TWO LOWER MAINLAND POETRY GROUPS
Where: Tsawwassen Longhouse Gallery at 1710 – 56th Street in the Village of Tsawwassen adjacent to the Recreation Centre with ample free parking. Bus stop across the street.
Why: To hold a collaborative show with members of the South Delta Artists Guild and poets from both “Pandora’s Collective” and “World Poetry” societies in Vancouver. Poems and images were individually drawn from sealed envelopes by participants from which they had to produce either a poem or painting and each painting will be exhibited next to the relevant poem, both with the same title. There will be close to 80 paintings and poems on display. This is a premier event in the Tsawwassen art community with many poets and artists in attendance where they will gladly discuss their works. All paintings are original and for sale for the duration of the show. This is a rare opportunity for the public to interact with two art forms at the same time and in the same venue making it an event well worth attending.

Other Events of Interest March 21-22nd Now Who’s Talking Recovery Theatre NWT Recovery Theatre’s goal is to teach people in recovery how to tell their stories in the context of theatre. The troupe of nine has been hard at work since last September learning acting skills from Alex Bruhanski , one of Vancouver ‘s most highly respected acting teachers. They have also completed classes in voice, movement and improvisation with the accomplished and talented thespian Monique Bourgois. The troupe is currently writing their individual recovery stories which will be crafted into dramatic vignettes. Collectively, the vignettes will be tied together to show how people recover and give hope to those struggling with mental health issues. The current thought is to have some kind of recovery awards show. The play promises to be entertaining, educational and above all humorous. The show should run for about an hour followed by a Q & A session. Dear Friends, I’ve decided to make my book launch on April 1 a fundraiser for my dear friend Emmett (Sarah) Race. As some of you know, Emmett is a talented photographer, and last week her computer and hard drive were stolen. She lost her entire life’s work as a photographer. So, although we can’t get the photos back, I’m hoping to raise a little money for Emmett to get a new computer. All proceeds from books sold at the event will go to the “computer fund,” and in addition, there will be a jar on the book table for donations. If you have some extra scratch burning a hole in your pocket, please don’t hesitate to donate it to this worthy cause. Thanks! It should be an interesting evening. McCaslin, Beardsley and Rosen are BC poets. Brother Paul Quenon has been a monk for 50 years, and received his formation under Thomas Merton. He has published three collections of poems, Monkswear, Laughter My Purgatory, and Terrors of Paradise, and a CD of poetry Hooded Sentinels. He is cantor, cook, and photographer for his monastery, the Abbey of Gethsemani in Kentucky.
