Peers, Families, Professionals and Others…..
So who has been buying copies of the Recovery Narrative Project’s anthology? Well a wide range of people have expressed an interest and purchased copies of Evening the frayed edges. The Authors just wanted to share their stories and perspectives of Recovery. So far an elected Representative, Doctors, Receptionists, Professionals, Peers, Family Members have all got their copy of our book. There will be lots of opportunities to get your copy too! If you know any of the Authors and would like a copy; you can get copies from the Authors (Dori Jaffe, Deniz Burton Ismen, Jude Swanson, Margo Robinson, Susan J. Katz, and Susan Trapp). If you want to come to our Book Launch on September 26, see our blog posting for the information. Reducing stigma is one of the goals we have in sharing our stories.
Wow, you are a published Author!
I’ve heard those words from quite a few friends over the past week. And its TRUE! Six People with lived experience with mental illness have collaborated on a book together. The Authors share about their experience. Our anthology ‘Evening the frayed edges’ is a book we are all proud of. Some of the Authors will be on Co-op Radio (Wednesday September 22 @ 2 PM) and of course we will be hosting our Book Launch (Sunday September 26 @ 7PM) at the John Braithwaite Community Centre in North Vancouver. Hope to see you there!
A word with one of the Authors…
Books are going fast. There is much excitement over this book. It has been a great experience collaborating with the the other authors. I have had to shed my self imposed stigma in writing about my experiences.

Processing the process…
Here in Vancouver we’ve had a pretty sunny summer. In my opinion it has been especially sunny and hot this past weekend. The weather can be compared to the process of writing a book. There can be changes in the temperature over various periods of the process. In many ways the Recovery Narrative Project is transitioning from one part of the process into another and therefore things seem to be heating up. The writing and editing may be done but that is just part of what it takes to get the book to the bookshelves. I am so grateful to the other Members of this writing circle because completing this collaborative anthology has been a real learning exercise. I am trying to enjoy the ride but there is often many things to do too.
